Below is a step-by-step plan for migrating from Bitstamp to Kraken
Plan: Replace Bitstamp trader with a new Kraken trader using your existing Cryptotrader account. You will keep your credits.
Step 1: Contact us to let us know that you want to migrate your Bitstamp trader to Kraken. We will then stop your Bitstamp trader.
To prevent issues with Bitstamp best is convert all your assets (USD and BTC) to Euros.
Step 2: Convert your USD to Euros using a market order. This will immediately convert them with the current USD/Euro rate. See instructions Bitstamp – Convert USD to Euro
Step 3: The USD/Euro conversion is immediate. You can withdraw these euro’s to your bank account.
Step 4: Convert your BTC to Euro using a limit order. You need to use an euro price which ensures that you do not lose money on your Bitcoin. Write down the price of your most expensive unsold pocket. Example: Your most expensive unsold pocket is $109781, convert the price in euros, for example: €96443. Now create a limit order for selling your BTC for Euros with min sell price (in this example: €96443). See instructions Bitstamp: Convert BTC to Euro
While waiting for the limit sell order for BTC to fulfill you can continue with the next steps.
Step 5: Create a Kraken account, Create the API key, deposit your euro’s and convert them to USD. See the instructions: Getting Started with Kraken
Important: No need to register yourself at Cryptotrader, we will re-use your existing account with existing credits
Step 6: Send us your API key / private key via a secure way (do NOT use email or whatsapp). Contact us and we let you know how.
We will then convert your current trader to a Kraken trader, link your API key and start the Kraken trader
Step 7: Conversion of BTC (in step 2) will take more time. Your limit order will do the conversion as soon as the bitcoin price reaches the price target set in your limit order.
Step 8: Withdraw the last remaining euro’s from Bitstamp to your bank account, deposit them to Kraken and convert them to USD (see instructions above)
The Kraken trader will detect the additional USD and will use it in the next buy opportunity.
